Sue Rice, co-owner of Valley Lanes in Sunnyside, presents a $300 check last Friday to the first bowler who rolled a perfect 300 game in league play for the 2013-14 season. The lucky recipient turns out to be her son, Brandon Rice. The young man achieved the feat during Lower Valley Scratch League play on Monday, Oct. 28. Rice opened his series that evening with his perfect game, one of several 300’s he’s thrown in his amateur career. He followed up with games of 207-191 for a three-game series of 698. Valley Lanes traditionally awards $300 in cash each year to the first league bowler who strings 12 strikes together in a single game.
