Willis “Bill” Charles Miller

Willis “Bill” Charles Miller, 80, of Outlook passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, in Sunnyside.

Bill was born Oct. 9, 1933 in Smith Center, Kansas, the son of Samuel Charles and Zelda Dorcus (Hunter) Miller.

On Aug. 21, 1954 Bill married Daisy Ina Spears in Elma.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1975, serving on the ships USS Chandler, Midway, Ranger and Coral Sea. His tour of duty covered Laos, Korea and Vietnam.

Bill cherished time spent with family and enjoyed bowling, ceramics, photography, hunting, camping and roller skating.

On July 4, 1976 Bill and Daisy were confirmed members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was a life time member of NRA, Moose Lodge and president of Channel Charge CB Radio Club.

Bill was a member and served in various positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Daisy I. Miller of Outlook; two daughters, Charla R. (Mark) Hanks of Fallon, Nev. and Cheryl R. (Bill) Sunday of Sunnyside; one son. William “Bill” Miller of Outlook; eight grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Berneice E. Stoops; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Zelda Miller; and two sisters, Lois Cameron and Carol Cronin.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, and Friday, March 21, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sunnyside, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sunnyside. Burial with military honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
