Sunnyside police are investigating two vehicle thefts which have occurred since last Friday morning.
Sunday, police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle taken from the 700 block of McClain Drive. The missing vehicle is a 2006 Nissan Sentra. The vehicle reportedly had a full tank of gas and the keys had been left in the ignition.
Last Friday officers were also called to the 1300 block of South Sixth Street, where the victim reported three individuals had attempted to steal her boyfriend’s vehicle. According to the report, the suspects appeared to be teenagers, who took off running into the nearby fields. The would-be thieves were unsuccessful in their attempt to steal the car.
Officers also investigated a report of a theft from a car in the 700 block of North 16th Street yesterday (Sunday). The victim believes the vehicle had been broken into between 3 and 4 a.m. Sunday morning. The only item missing from the car was a car stereo.
Also on Sunday, officers were called to investigate a report of shots fired near the 600 block of Scoon Road. Police were unable to locate any evidence of shots fired.
Police are also investigating a report of a theft of a 32-inch television taken from a home in the 700 block of McClain Drive, believed to have been stolen sometime Friday afternoon.
In other weekend activity, police investigated nine reports of suspicious circumstances, four juvenile problems, nine animal complaints, four automatic alarms, one disorderly conduct, one noise complaint, one report of a missing person, one DUI, two threats complaints and handled eight traffic incidents.
Sunnyside officers also provided six agency assists, made 10 citizen assists, served three arrest warrants, handled five informational calls, provided one escort and made three welfare checks since last Friday.
