Sunnyside Community Hospital welcomes two neurosurgeons to its team this month, opening a new service line for patients to receive care for brain, spine and back conditions throughout the Lower Yakima Valley.
Successfully performing two spinal surgeries so far, neurosurgeons Dr. Dave Atteberry and Dr. Hoan Tran from Yakima join the hospital’s Specialty Center Surgical Group clinic, which puts Sunnyside Community Hospital on the map to provide neurological surgery services throughout the valley.
“The addition of neurological surgery services to the hospital is tremendous,” CEO John Gallagher said.
“People with chronic back pain, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease or herniated cervical, lumbar or sacral discs can now come to Sunnyside to receive high-end care, rather than travel to Yakima or the Tri-Cities.”
Atteberry and Tran both specialize in caring for the spine and other neurological conditions.
Atteberry completed his residency, fellowship and taught at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Tran did his fellowship at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, and prior to serving patients locally, worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of New Mexico. Both will see patients at the Sunnyside clinic and perform surgery at the local hospital.
“As we continue to expand our services, more people throughout the valley will be able to receive the help that they need and that is what matters most,” Gallagher said.
Sunnyside Community Hospital and its clinics have a mission to provide comprehensive quality care to the region.
