BHS girls bring down Eagles

— The Lady Pirates proved their mettle against the Eagles last night on Yakama Tribal’s home court, winning in three sets, 25-9, 25-18, 25-12.

“We have our first win under our belts,” said Bickleton Coach Katie Leuthauser.

Tuesday’s victory came in Bickleton’s first regulation length match of the season.

Lady Pirate Shaylee Tharp was 19-for-20 at the service line with nine aces. She also provided her teammates with four assists.

Bickleton’s Sydnie Obanion gave a 15-for-16 performance serving with seven aces. Lindsay Brown gave the Lady Pirates a 15-for-15 performance from the service line with seven kills at the net. Lady Pirate Daniela Smith was also perfect from the service line, going 8-for-8 with two aces. She also was credited with three assists.

“Overall I was happy with the way the girls played,” said Leuthauser. “They were talking and calling the ball well. It was noticeable that they were playing as a team and working together... hope we can keep those things up for the remainder of the season.”

Bickleton (1-0) hosts Trout Lake-Glenwood to-morrow, Sept. 19, in the Lady Pirates’ home opener.
