MABTON – In response to concerns by some residents that city hall closes before they can get in and pay their utility bills, the Mabton City Council last night gave an initial thumbs up to expanding office hours to 5 p.m.
Currently, Mabton City Hall is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The new arrangement would have city hall open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and city employees taking an hour-long lunch instead of 30 minutes.
Expanding the hours of operation requires a change in city ordinance, and city staff will bring an ordinance revision for council to adopt at the next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
