OTHELLO – The Grandview soccer team finds itself in a three-match slide after suffering from wounds inflicted upon it last night by the Othello Huskies.
Grandview dominated the attack, but couldn’t capitalize on 10 scoring opportunities.
Othello was denied six times by Lady ‘Hound keeper Madison Trevino.
Husky keeper Jennelle Garza shut the door on the net 10 times.
It was in the opening half that Othello’s Kaylee Martinez caught Trevino and the Grandview defenders off-guard. She capitalized on a pass delivered by Tori Cantu.
That was the only goal of the match, scored in the 11th minute.
Grandview Coach Anne Holden said the match was controversial. “We rallied and really should have scored on three separate occasions,” she said.
Grandview (3-5, 5-9) will tomorrow (Thursday) host Ellensburg at Rich Leenhouts Stadium.
Holden said the match is a “must-win” for the Lady ‘Hounds to have a shot at postseason play.
