Benton City - Now celebrating its 10th year, Benton City’s WinterFest continues to grow. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14.
A full slate of family-friendly, fun activities during the day is capped off with the evening lighted parade followed by lighting of the community Christmas tree.
Daytime events will begin with the Santa Run 1K/5K. Included will be a large bazaar, breakfast and visits with Santa, as well as a kids zone, Wii tournament and other activities at Ki-Be High School beginning at 8 a.m.
The WinterFest Parade will be held at 5 p.m. Entries include floats, vehicles of all types, farm equipment, mounted entries and walking/marching groups. Each year the parade continues to attract a growing line-up of semi-trailers, including the Coca-Cola truck.
The parade will be staged at Ki-Be Middle School, located at 913 Horne Dr. Entries need to be in place by 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration for the parade is encouraged, but not required.
After the parade, parking for vehicles of all sizes will be available along the edges of the city park.
The community Christmas tree will be lit after the parade. Complimentary cocoa and cookies will be available for all attending the event.
Parade participants may also want to join a caravan to Prosser to participate in its lighted parade, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
