SHS senior Johanna Chumley shot the high game of the day, but it was to no avail as the Lady Grizzlies were swept by the Wenatchee High School girls bowling team this past Thursday at Sunnyside’s Valley Lanes.
Chumley’s high-game performance – a 202 – came in game-two. Sunnyside also received strong efforts in that contest from senior Brianna Esqueda and junior Carla Rodriguez, who rolled games of 154 and 153, respectively. Wenatchee’s superior team depth, however, resulted in the Panthers prevailing by a 773-708 margin.
Wenatchee opened Thursday’s prep match with a dominating 748-570 win against the host Lady Grizzlies.
After securing the game-two victory, the visiting Panthers sewed up the match by winning the first of the two Baker games, 183-137.
Wenatchee made it a 4-0 sweep over the SHS bowlers by winning the second Baker game, 146-127.
The winning team was led by lead-off bowler Lexi DaSilva. The senior tossed the high two-game series of the day, a 342 on efforts of 186-156.
Wenatchee also got individual performances of 159-168 from sophomore Jaylah Young, 158-169 from junior Bethany Symonds, 144-160 from junior Danielle Fabian and 101-120 from freshman Delaney Yant.
Chumley was the lone Sunnyside bowler to top the two-game 300 series plateau. She tallied a 339 by rolling games of 137-202.
Sunnyside’s other bowlers included Esqueda (128-154), Rodriguez (88-153), Elisha Noyola (108-104) and Enedina Cisneros (109-95).
In JV action Thursday, Sunnyside and Wenatchee tied at 2-2, but the Lady Grizzlies earned the victory based on total pinfall. The top individual efforts for the winners were games of 142 and 141 shot by Thalia Borja and Elexis Lepe, respectively.
