GRANDVIEW –The Grandview City Council last night adopted a $17 million budget for 2014, meeting its goals for its reserve funds.
The city’s current expense fund in 2014 will increase less than 1 percent over 2013.
Included in the budget are recommendations from city staff that include $2,000 for the maintenance of the police department’s shooting range, $200,000 for the construction of a new museum, monies for an architectural study for a new police department facility and funding for new restrooms for Westside Park.
The reserve account will total about 20 percent of the budget. The Grandview City Council asked that reserves remain at 15 percent or better.
City Administrator Cus Arteaga said the city has a balanced budget.
The budget was adopted by a 6-0 vote.
