KENNEWICK – A sixth-place finish for the Black Rock Creek team at last week’s stop on the 2013 Mid-Columbia Senior Golf Tour was the first time this summer the Sunnyside-area squad didn’t place in the top three.
Despite its sixth-place finish at Kennewick’s Canyon Lakes Golf Course, the Black Rock Creek team still sits atop the 2013 senior tour standings. Through nine stops thus far, with two competitions remaining, the local seniors have amassed 110.5 points. The Tri-City team from Columbia Point sits in second place in the standings with 97.5 points.
The low scorer for Black Rock Creek last week was Chris Leman. He carded an 11-over-par 83.
Shooting to or bettering their established handicaps were Black Rock Creek’s Mike Stegeman, Ely Gonzalez and Ken Ott with handicap-aided rounds of 69, 71 and 72, respectively.
The next stop on the 2013 senior tour will be at Wildhorse Golf Resort, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 18. Local seniors who want to compete that day have until Monday, Sept. 16, to sign up in the Black Rock Creek pro shop.
