Theft reports of a car, a lawnmower, cash and a wallet were reported to the Sunnyside police this past weekend.
A report of a stolen vehicle came into police dispatch Sunday afternoon, when a resident in the 100 block of Parkland Drive reported his car was missing. The incident reportedly occurred in the Grandview area.
Also on Sunday, police investigated a report of money having been taken from a cash box at a car wash located at the intersection of South Sixth Street and East Lincoln Avenue. The exact amount of cash taken was unknown, but it appeared a drill had been used to extract the cash, according to the police report.
A would-be thief’s attempt to steal a purse was caught on video tape Saturday afternoon. The suspect was taken into custody in the 300 block of South Seventh Street. Also a lawnmower was reportedly taken from the 1100 block of Yakima Avenue late Friday afternoon. No other information was available.
Police also investigated a report of a burglary in the 1300 block of North Avenue in which a compressor was taken. There was no report of the item’s value.
Taggers were reported to have hit a garage in the 300 block of North 16th Street Sunday afternoon. According to the police report, the graffiti appeared to be non-gang related.
In other activity, police responded to seven false alarms, six animal complaints, 12 traffic incidents, four cases of malicious mischief, six reports of suspicious circumstances and one violation of a no-contact order.
Sunnyside police also provided two agency assists, serve three arrest warrants, gave seven citizen assists and answered seven informational calls.
