YAKIMA - A Lower Valley woman received a jail term of 15 months yesterday, Thursday, as a result of a car crash last year that killed her three-year-old daughter.
According to the Yakima County Clerk's office this morning, Nicole Estrada was found guilty of vehicular homicide because her daughter was not in a child restraint. The daughter died as a result of the accident on Outlook Road when she was thrown from the vehicle.
Sheriff's deputies determined that the accident was caused when Estrada drove through a stop sign.
The clerk's office said the 15-month jail term was the minimum sentence. The maximum sentence for vehicular homicide is life in prison.
