The priest had given his heart away, piece by piece, to many others throughout the years. A generous heart that earned him much love from those he touched. This was his gift.
David Leeroy Lundean, 77, met his Lord on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis. He graduated from high school in Fondulac, Wis.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He attended the U.S. Army Signal School in Ansbach, Germany. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1968.
He worked as a computer operator and as a data processing manager at the Instruction and Research Center at the University of Wisconsin.
He had a fondness for his old Buick memories. It was in that car while driving down a Wisconsin road one day he heard the voice saying, "David, it's time," and David knew that this was the moment to prepare for the priesthood.
He entered Nashota House Seminary in Nashota, Wis. In 1983 and completed his Master of Divinity degree. He served at the cathedral in Spokane, later moving to Sandpoint, Idaho serving at St. Agnes Episcopal Church and Bonners Ferry.
David retired from St. Agnes at 65 and was immediately asked to unretire for Holy Trinity Episcopal Church needed him. After serving Holy Trinity for seven years, he re-retired due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; his brother, Ron Lundean; a sister, Carole Gardner; two daughters, Claudia Lundean and Carolyn Haynes; one son, David J. Lundean; and four grandchildren, Randi M. Brown, Chase G. Binder, Taylor Lundean and John R. Hayes.
