Bell ringers needed

The Salvation Army's good works march on-but bell ringers are needed if the needy are to have happy holidays this year.

As has been the tradition for Christmases past, the Salvation Army will set up kettles at key points in the Valley to collect monetary donations that help bring warmth to the less fortunate in valley communities. But the army needs some recruits that are willing to brave the chill and ring the bells that let people know the army is on the move.

The collections begin Nov. 18 and will run through Dec. 24.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to serve all or any part of a four-hour shift is asked to contact Roberto Matus at 509-882-2584.

The kettles will be set up in Sunnyside at Safeway, Wal-Mart, Bi-Mart and Food Pavilion; in Grandview at Safeway; and in Mabton at Blue Sky Market.

The Salvation Army will also have collection sites from Wapato to Prosser.
