Tying up loose ends

As part of this opportunity to share my observations, I also feel a responsibility to bring you up to date as changes or progress develops.

We've all encountered people who get your attention by starting a story, then never telling you how it ends up.

TV shows, even sitcoms, feel the need to rudely leave us hanging on an unfinished story line in the spring then, if ratings are sufficient, let us know the rest of the story later in the fall.

Well, no cliff-hangers here. So without further ado here's to tying up loose ends:

1. My column on campaign signs stirred feedback of all sorts. Kudos to all the candidates for removing their signs right after the election. By the way, during my visits to the county courthouse there were a bundle of signs posted right on public property. At least the local candidates made their stand by staying off the public's ground, even if it was ever so close at times.

2. Remember the Christmas tree permit brouhaha developing with the Forest Service? That resolved itself with the forest service going ahead and offering permits as usual, minus the public hearings recommended by a California judge.

3. Yes, we did find a home to purchase and are all moved in. Thanks to all who offered to help, including the gentleman who called me up right after the column ran to let me know he had a house for sale.

4. We won't have quite as many grapes for "grazing," but we were pleasantly surprised to find out our new home does have a grape arbor.

That's the round-up for now. I'll take another reflective look next time in what I like to call "stocking stuffers."
