Airbags are believed to have saved 21-year-old Carissa McNerney from serious injury this morning. McNerney, who was driving her 1994 Ford Aspire westbound in the 1300 block of Yakima Valley Highway, rear-ended Sandra Enriquez, 18, of Sunnyside, at about 8 a.m., according to Sunnyside Police Department Officer Kent Coffman.
All of McNerney's airbags deployed and she had a minor injury to her hand, said Coffman.
McNerney's vehicle sustained damage, but there was hardly any damage to Enriquez's 1993 Mercury Cougar, said Coffman.
McNerney was cited for following too closely.
